US focussing on education in Pakistan: Brian Heath

HYDERABAD - Karachi US Consulate Council General Brian Heath has said that various packages have been launched for welfare of common man in Pakistan. He said this while speaking at a reception held in his honor by Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI), said a statement released by HCCI on Wednesday. “We are focusing on education sector and also cooperating with HESCO for development of energy sector in Pakistan,” he said. He said that they were spending million rupees on Agro based industries for promoting trade and industry in Pakistan. On 50 per cent investment by industrialists, he said that USAID was providing non-refundable loans to them as packing and manufacturing of Agro based industries should be made with modern technology for enhancing the export of its related items. He said that they would extend all types of cooperation with business community to boost the economy of the country. On the occasion, Commissioner Syed Asif Hyder Shah said that infrastructure of Hyderabad had been deteriorated and they were working to reconstruct it for providing better facility to public. HCCI President Goharullah said that there were many units of textiles, garments, assemblers of motorcycles and other industries at Hyderabad, so US government should launch some projects especially in areas of Agro-based industries. Karachi DIG Javed Alam Odho, the SSP of Hyderabad, the collector customs, MPA Dilawar Qureshi, the FPCCI vice president and other office bearers of the HCCI were present on the occasion.
