Govt will not bow down before illegally protesting workers of PIA: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz has asserted that the government would not surrender before illegally protesting employees of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

Nawaz Sharif said here Friday some elements did not want prosperity of PIA and the country, adding that government wanted betterment of the national airlines and would bring it on the right track.

He went on to say that people had given PML-N government the mandate to make institutions better.

PIA workers had been protesting against proposed privatization of national flag carrier despite passage of Essential Services Maintenance Act.

In an effort to block an impending strike, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif On February 01, extended the Essential Services Maintenance Act 1952 to the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for six months.

Dozens of flights have been cancelled due to strike of the PIA employees.
