Notorious Lyari gangster Baba Ladla, 2 others killed in Rangers operation

KARACHI: Three gangsters, including Baba Ladla, were killed in an operation by the Rangers here at Phoolpatti Lane in Lyari early morning on Thursday.

Noor Mohammad alias Baba Ladla was an important commander of Lyari Gang while the two other gangsters were Sikander alias Sikku and Yaseen Baloch.

Three other gangsters fled from the scene getting the advantage of darkness while one Rangers official was wounded in an exchange of firing.

The Rangers headquarters confirmed the killing of these three gangsters.

The ruthless Baba Ladla was the most wanted gangster to the police as he was involved in various crimes. He was considered the symbol of terror and danger in the area.

In a handout, Rangers claimed that during the operation, Head Constable Fayyaz and Constable Tufail lost their lives in the operation. Baba Ladla had attacked a police party in April 2012 and had killed a man named Mullah Latif in 2010.

"Baba Ladla was wanted in more than 74 crimes by the police," stated the press release by Rangers.

The press release also revealed that Baba Ladla had, with the help of Uzair Baloch, committed the murders of Shera Pathan, Arshad Pappu and Yasir Arafat. It also stated that in March 2013, Baba Ladla had kidnapped a group of Muhajirs and murdered them.

The press release also shed light on the other gangster gunned down in the operation, Sikander alias Siku. According to the Rangers, Sikander was wanted in more than 15 crimes by police. Baba Ladla was described by Rangers as a close aide of Baba Ladla and was also his facilitator.

In April 2012, Sikander had committed the murder of SHO Fawad Khan while in the same year he had also killed Constable Asif, as per the press release. In 2013, he had tortured and subsequently killed two other men.

Sikander had also been involved in the sale and purchase of illegal weapons.

Rangers claimed that gangster Yaseen Baloch, who was also gunned down in the operation, was a drug dealer in Lyari.

Rangers warned those youths who were inspired by Baba Ladla in Lyari to take heed from his fate. The paramilitary force stated that it would take strict action against all such elements.
