SC temporarily bans Aamir Liaquat’s ‘Aisay Nahi Chalay Ga’

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday imposed a temporary ban on Aamir Liaquat’s programme ‘Aisay Nahi Chalay Ga’.

The apex court also issued a warning to the private news channel for airing this particular show.

Supreme Court (SC) judge Justice Amir Hani Muslim led a three-member bench to hear Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority’s (PEMRA) appeal against Bol News.

Contempt of court notices sent to PEMRA chairman by Sindh High Court were set aside, while the private channel has been warned that a contempt of court proceeding will be started if Aamir Liaquat’s show is aired again.

Earlier, PEMRA banned Amir Liaquat over hate speech and accused another channel of treachery and infidelity.

The channel disobeyed PEMRA’s orders and continued airing the show after which ‘show-cause’ notices were sent to the channel. However, the Sindh High Court had restored the channel’s licence.
