Federal government focused on Sindh development: PM


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met with new Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair on Friday and discussed the federal government’s plan to focus on development of the province’s rural and urban areas.

According to a press release, Zubair called on the premier at the PM House. In their discussion, the PM stated that the administration had initiated several projects for the people of Sindh, including energy, infrastructure and social sectors.

“With mutual consensus of all stakeholders, we acted for bringing peace in Karachi and by the grace of Almighty, law and order situation has substantially improved,” stated the PM.

The PM further stated that the federal government was working on various energy projects in Sindh including the Port Qasim power plant, Engro Thar power project, Jhimpir wind power project and the Thar Mine Mouth Oracle project.

The premier remarked that last week he had inaugurated the completed section of the Karachi to Hyderabad Motorway M-9 to facilitate the people of the province.

Nawaz also mentioned the fact that the Karachi Circular Railway project had been included in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor Project (CPEC), with work on the Green Line mass transit project in full swing. He also said that the K4 and Lyaari expressway project was also being supported by the federal government.

Sharif directed the governor to play an instrumental role and act as a bridge between the federal and provincial governments in order for development initiatives to be effectively implemented on time.

Governor Zubair thanked the prime minister for placing trust in him and vowed to perform his duties for the benefit of the people of Sindh as well as to further strengthen the link between the federal and provincial governments.
