PTI approves seven names for Senate election

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday approved the names of seven candidates for the upcoming Senate elections. The candidates are: Azam Sawati, Fida Hussain, Faisal Javed, Mehrtaj Roghani, Khayal Zaman and Ayub Afridi for the seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar will contest the Senate election from Punjab. The names were decided in a meeting presided by PTI Chairman Imran Khan. During the Monday meeting, PTI condemned alleged horse trading for Senate elections. The core committee offered fateh for Swat blast martyred, in which 11 security personnel lost their lives, and also expressed solidarity with Kashmiri people in connection with the Kashmir Day. Taking the review of country’s political situation committee has decided to approach Supreme Court regarding Hudaibiya Paper Mills case. It also condemned extrajudicial killing of Muddasar and demanded the judicial commission in Zainab murder case. The meeting prayed for the immediate recovery of labourers who were buried and got injured after debris fell from the Orange Line Metro train project. PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry criticised Nawaz Sharif’s speech in Muzaffarabad and said that the former PM had not expressed solidarity with Kashmiri people. “It shows his ouster as PM has caused psychological issues for him. Nawaz Sharif did not know how many Kashmiri people were martyred in Kashmir during the last decade,” he said. He said that the investigation into Nawaz Sharif’s property in London had been initiated by the UK government and hopefully he would be found guilty after the probe.
