NAB summons Nawaz today

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Rawalpindi, has summoned former prime minister Nawaz Sharif today (Saturday) to record his statement in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investments Ltd case.

According to sources, the NAB Rawalpindi, headed by Irfan Mangi, was also preparing supplementary references on the Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investment Ltd cases. Mangi was a member of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) constituted by the Supreme Court and has recently been given the charge as DG NAB, Rawalpindi.

Sources said the supplementary references in Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investment Ltd are likely to be filed next week in the Accountability Court.

They said the NAB has got the transcription of the interview of Hussain Nawaz Sharif with Hamid Mir in Geo TV's programme ‘Capital Talk’. The NAB has approached the Pakistan Electronic Media regulatory Authority (Pemra) to get the recording of interview of Hussain Nawaz but the Pemra responded that it does not keep a record of programmes beyond 90 days. Sources said the NAB has decided to keep the interview of Hussain Nawaz Sharif as record in the supplementary reference.

According to PML-N sources, the former prime minster has decided not to appear before the NAB in Rawalpindi today, says a media report. The sources said Nawaz will instead appear before the anti graft body on Feb 13.
