PPP to not accept amendment to constitution regarding special courts

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) announced on Friday that they will not accept the amendment to constitution with regards to setting up special courts.

An eight member delegation headed by PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari will be taking part in the upcoming meeting today of all political party leaders, being chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Other party members attending meeting will include; Syed Khursheed Shah, Aitzaz Ahsan, Sherry Rehman, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Farooq Naek, Farhatullah Babar, and Rehman Malik.

The meeting will review in detail the National Action Plan, specially the reservations held by many regarding the setting up of special courts for trying terrorists.

The PPP, however, is ready to accept the amendment to the army act, sources said.
