Ayaz fortifies his lead against Imran in recounting in NA-122 constituency

INP

LAHORE – The claims by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in NA-122 constituency have proved baseless as during recounting on the orders of the Election Tribunal it has been found that Pakistan Muslim League-N candidate Ayaz Sadiq bagged 78377 votes while his opponent and the PTI Chairman Imran Khan polled 68765 votes.

Highly reliable sources told here on Friday that the verification of votes in 234 polling stations has been completed and as such the overall lead of Speaker Ayaz has increased from 9612 votes to 9701 votes. The sources further said that the PTI’s claim that 24000 votes were fake as they did not carry either the stamps or the signatures of the presiding officers. They said it is interesting that of these votes more than 50 per cent were cast at polling stations where the PTI got lead.

They said these votes do not affect the result in the constituency as the votes had thump impressions and national identity card numbers. They said that during verification process 735 votes of Ayaz were rejected while those of Imran 849 were cancelled. As such the total valid votes obtained by Imran have come down to 67976 as against original 68825 while Ayaz’s tally increased by 114 votes.
