Iftikhar Chaudhry files Rs20 bn defamation suit against Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry filed a Rs20 billion defamation suit against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday.

Khan in August last year had accused the ex-CJP to be involved in rigging the General Election 2013.

Chaudhry’s legal team Raja Mudassir, Taufiq Asif, and Ahsanuddin finalised the draft of the suit which was filed in a district court.

Last year, Chaudhary had sent a legal notice to Imran over 'defamatory remarks' against him after which a counsel of the PTI Chairman issued a clarification, following which the ex-CJP withdrew the notice.

However, today Chaudhry has filed a defamation suit against Imran.
