Petrol shortage rumours create a storm in Karachi

KARACHI: The ongoing petrol crisis in Punjab spread to Karachi late on Monday night and continues to create a stir among consumers in the metropolis.

According to reports, long queues were witnessed at most fuel-stations throughout the city till late night as the rumour that Karachi was running out of petrol as well, spread like wildfire forcing consumers to fear a Punjab-like situation in Karach as well, resulting in panic buying.

Some stations were also found to be shut in order to avoid possible chaos of commuters and vehicles.

However, earlier on Monday, the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) spokesman stated that Karachi could not face a shortage of fuel as two oil refineries are operational in the port city.
