PML-N to end deprivation sense of Balochis: Jamali

ISLAMABAD – Balochistan Assembly Speaker Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali on Wednesday said the federal government was serious in ending sense of deprivation of people in Balochistan.

“Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was serious from day one to end Baloch people's sense of deprivation,” he said, talking to APP. He added that the Pakistan Muslim League-N despite having a majority let the National Party form its government in Balochistan.

He said that the Gwadar Port would bring investment to the province, adding that the provincial government should encourage friendly countries to make investment in Balochistan. He said after the 18th Constitutional Amendment, powers were transferred to the provinces and the federal government gave rightful share of funds to them.

The speaker said that the federal government had been taking keen interest in the development of Gwadar Port and provided more job opportunities to the youth. He added that these efforts showed seriousness of the federal government to bring Balochistan into mainstream of national development.

He said that the bad security situation in the province was caused by foreign interference; however, the law & order situation had improved. To a question, he said that the PML-N government assumed power in difficult conditions when Pakistan was facing severe energy crisis and economic difficulties.

During the first year, he said that the prime minister took extraordinary decisions to and started numerous projects for overcoming the energy crisis. He said that the prime minister took steps to encourage foreign investment but the long sit-ins in the federal capital damaged national economy. He said that the hurdles were created to keep the government away from its economic agenda.
