Governor urges officers to earn public trust

LAHORE - Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar on Friday urged the officers of civil services to earn public trust by delivering better services to the satisfaction of the people.

Addressing the awards distribution ceremony among officers of the 101st National Management Course (NMC) and the 16th Senior Management Course (SMC) here at National School of Public Policy (NSPP), he said good governance was indispensable and the bureaucracy would have to serve the masses and resolve their problems by giving-up status quo and bridging the gap between them and the public. He said that justice was a right of the people while resolution of masses’ problems was the responsibility of the government, which was also essence of the democracy.

He said that an able and effective civil servant analyses the problems of the masses and addresses them with diligence, efficiency and personal commitment. The governor stressed the need for utilising national resources for alleviating poverty, end unemployment and inequality by implementing policy of good governance which was imperative for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. He said that civil servants of Pakistan were the mainframe that held together various state organisations and institutions, and played vital role in success of all public policies.

Pakistan has the capacity to become a great and prosperous country, he said and added “We are a nation of more than 180 million people whose capabilities are second to none.” He hoped that after completing the course the officers of civil services would discharge their duties more effectively and serve the masses with commitment than before. The governor awarded certificates to the officers participating in the course. National School of Public Policy Rector Muhammad Ismail Qureshi addressing the ceremony highlighted the objectives and importance of National Management Course and Senior Management Course.
