‘Contempt of court’: Petition against PM Abbasi submitted in LHC

LAHORE: An application has been submitted to the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for allegedly saying words against the judiciary in his speech during his Sialkot visit.

The application, filed by advocate Azhar Siddiq on the behalf of civil society’s Amna Malik, stated that the premier insulted Supreme Court’s Panama verdict by saying that it will go the in trash.

The plaintiff said that as a head of the state, PM should not have used such language. She further demanded to launch contempt of court investigation against him.

Earlier, LHC had issued notices to ex-prime minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz in a case pertaining to anti-judiciary speeches.
