SC orders to put Shahrukh Jatoi, co-accused on ECL

LAHORE: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Saturday issued orders to Interior Secretary to put the names of Shahrukh Jatoi, Siraj Talpur, Sajjad Talpur and Ghulam Mustafa Lashari on Exit Control List (ECL) in Shahzeb Khan murder case.

Chief Justice Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar, with the three-member bench, also directed the interior ministry to issue relevant instructions to all airports in the country.

The court also issued bailable arrest warrants for the suspects and sent out notices to all the respondents in the case.

The three-member bench has also ordered concerned police officials to arrest and produce the accused in front of SC in Islamabad.

Civil society’s petition
Rights activist had had approached the Supreme Court against the SHC ruling which set aside the death penalty for Shahrukh Jatoi and others convicted for the 2012 murder of Shahzeb and ordered their retrial by a sessions court.

Filed though renowned lawyer Faisal Siddiqui, the petition asserted that residents of the same city where Shahzeb was murdered, had filed a criminal petition for leave-to-appeal challenging the SHC order for not applying ATA provisions and setting aside the conviction recorded by the trial court.

The petition said the incident of gruesome murder resulted in striking terror which created fear and insecurity in the general public.
