‘The countdown for PML-N govt begins today’

LAHORE: As the country’s major opposition parties are all geared up to launch their ‘grand protest’ against the Punjab government in Lahore’s Mall Road, the protest leaders have expressed their resolve to not rest till the ouster of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government headed by Shehbaz Sharif.

According to a PAT announcement, the leaders and delegations from PTI, PPP, PML-Q, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pak Sarzameen Party, Awami Muslim League (AWM), Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) and Majlise Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) will attend the “one-day” protest.

Talking to media, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader, Saeed Ghani, said that the murderers of the martyrs of Model Town tragedy will not be forgiven.

Taking jibe at PML-N, Ghani said: “The ministers of both provincial and federal government are afraid of losing their jobs,” adding, the days of ‘Raiwand throne’ have ended.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) also on Wednesday allowed Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) to go ahead with its sit-in on Lahore’s Mall Road, but also ordered to end the sit-in by midnight.

The leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Babar Awan remarked that it is the constitutional right of political parties to stage a protest in Lahore.

Speaking out the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Awan stressed that the political parties cannot be barred from the election campaigns. “The chief justice of Pakistan should take a suo motu notice of the Model Town tragedy” he added.

The PTI leader claimed that the PML-N leaders were also accomplices in Zainab’s murder as well as in Model Town tragedy.

Chairman of the Sunni Ittehad Council, Sahibzada Hamid Raza lashed out at the PML-N government saying the countdown of its government has already started, adding that the ‘political offspring’ of military dictator Zia-ul-Haque have ruled the country enough and cannot rule it anymore.

He said that on his call, thousands of lovers of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will take to the streets and demand the ouster of the incumbent government.
