Opposition leader asks all parties to support Pakistan Protection Bill
Shah says displaced families can go anywhere in Pakistan
APPISLAMABAD – Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Wednesday requested all opposition parties especially the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to support the Pakistan Protection Bill (PPB) 2014.
Addressing the National Assembly, the opposition leader said that Pakistan was passing through a critical situation and passage of this bill was necessary to support the government and the law enforcement agencies. He said that the Senate had suggested 21 amendments in the bill and made it possible for its passage by the National Assembly.
Shah said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would monitor the enforcement of the Bill and related matters to ensure its implementation. He said that the whole nation was united to support the Pakistan Army during the operation launched in North Waziristan against the militants.
In response to a comment by MNA Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the opposition leader said that the internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the tribal areas could go anywhere in Pakistan and it was wrong perception that they were facing problems for entering in Sindh and Punjab provinces.
Shah said that the government of Sindh enhanced security on its borders just to check the entry of terrorists in the guise of displaced persons. Awami Muslim League leader MNA Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad supported the bill but proposed to review the Section 8 and the Section 10 of the bill. He proposed the government to impose five rupees on petrol and Rs 10 on electricity for spending on welfare of the displaced persons.
