Shaikh Rasheed presses govt against ignoring IDPs

KARACHI: Chief of Awami Muslim League, Shaikh Rasheed Sunday said a state loses its existence when it fails to keep its frontiers secure.

“MQM proved it is a descendent of a great nation by holding a rally in support of the army,” Rasheed said while addressing a Muttahida Qaumi Movement-led rally staged here at Jinnah Ground to show solidarity with the armed forces of Pakistan.

He said Pakistan is currently engaged in a do-or-die battle which will have to be taken seriously.

Paying accolades to the armed forces, Rasheed said all Pakistanis including mothers, daughters are praying for their valiant soldiers.

Taking a dig at government’s announcement of Rs1 billion for provision of relief and shelter to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from North Waziristan, Shaikh Rasheed said it is woefully insufficient. He said Rs150 billion are being spent on Metro Bus project for Rawalpindi.

He exhorted the government not to ignore the IDPs.
