Rally proves nation’s all out support to Pak army: Altaf Hussain

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain Sunday paid glowing tributes to the armed forces of Pakistan who have resolved to purge the country of the scourge of terrorism.

Addressing a big rally at Jinnah Bagh, adjacent to the Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum via video link from London, Altaf Hussain said the public gathering that is spread wide and far across is clear evidence of the nation’s all out support for their armed forces in the ongoing operation against terrorism.

“We stand with our brave jawans and we salute them,” Hussain said.

He said the enemies sowed seeds of sectarian, ethnic and religious hatred in the country and warned that no one should dare to enforce their agenda through use of force.

“First of all terrorists will be tackled and then feudal lords and chieftains will be dealt with,” he said, adding, ‘those who plundered the country and laundered the money should be sent to the country where they stashed the wealth’.

He said article 6 of the constitution must not be considered in isolation, it should be read along with its sub clauses.

Hussain said former President Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf should not be punished alone; his abettors should also be tried. “(former army chief) Ashfaq Parvez Kayani be incarcerated right next to Musharraf’s house,” he added.

He called upon everyone to extend all out help to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan.

Altaf Hussain said a revolution is in the offing in the country. “MQM will put an end to the practice of Wani, Karo Kari and killing in the name of honour,” he vowed.

He said followers of every religion will enjoy complete liberty to live their lives according to their faiths and beliefs.

“MQM wants to build a society where people belonging to various classes have equal rights.”

Earlier, Awami Muslim League chief Shaikh Rasheed and other leaders of MQM also addressed the rally.
