Army, masses on the same page over operation Zarb-e-Azb: Kayani also be tried under Article 6, demands Altaf
*MQM chief says revolution in the country is on the cards*Criminal feudal lords will be held accountable after elimination of terrorists* Looted money should be brought back

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain said on Sunday that former army chief General (r) Ashfaq Kayani should also be tried under Article 6 of the constitution.
Altaf was addressing a large public gathering at Jinnah Bagh, adjacent to the Mazar-e-Quaid, on the call of MQM to show solidarity with Pakistan Army, which is fighting terrorists. The party had asked people to participate in the rally despite their political and religious belongings. Addressing the gathering via video link from London, the MQM founder leader said the entire nation stands behind the army in its fight against terrorism.
“Entire nation is behind the army in the operation in North Waziristan to weed out terrorists,” he told the rally. Praising Pakistan Army, Altaf said the mass rally is clear evidence of the nation’s full support to the country’s defenders in the ongoing operation against terrorism. Lauding the sacrifices of soldiers who have laid down their lives for the nation, Altaf said the people of Pakistan should show unity during the ongoing operation.
He said the nation prays for the success of the army who is combating terrorists. He said the security forces are defeating enemies on every front. “Army demonstrated extreme restraint and patience against terrorists. Army gave the terrorists ample time to comply with the country’s laws. Army showed patience and stayed within the law and constitution, while giving militants a chance during the negotiations,” Altaf told the mammoth gathering.
The MQM supremo said the enemies had sown seeds of sectarian, ethnic and religious hatred in the country. He said militants wanted to enforce their so-called sharia by spreading terror. “Terrorists want to impose their version of shariah through Kalashnikov. No one should dare to enforce their own agenda through use of force,” he warned. Altaf called upon everyone to help out the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan.
He asked all Pakistanis to donate one meal to the IDPs of North Waziristan. Altaf said Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF) is contributing to the relief of the IDPs. “All possible help should be provided for the IDPs who have had to flee North Waziristan in the aftermath of the operation,” he said. The MQM chief said that a revolution is in the offing in the country. “We want a real democratic system to prevail in the country.” Altaf said first it would be the terrorists who would be eliminated and then the “criminal feudal lords”. He said that feudalists would be held accountable after elimination of terrorists in the first phase. Calling for abolition of discriminatory educational system, he said looted money should be brought back and spent of the construction of schools and colleges.
Criticising the government for “misuse of Article 6 of the constitution in Pervez Musharraf case” Altaf said that Article 6 of the constitution must not be considered alone, it should be read along with its sub clauses. “Pervez Musharraf should not be punished alone. Those who aided and abetted Musharraf should also be tried for treason,” he demanded. “A room should be built for Ashfaq Parvez Kayani next to Pervez Musharraf’s house,” he told the congregation.
“We will build such a society where there would be no differences on the basis of sect, religion, caste, and provinces,” Altaf said, adding that the MQM would introduce a uniform syllabus for the entire country. The MQM chief said that the looted money of corrupt politicians should be brought back and their properties seized and converted into universities and colleges. He called for equal justice in society and said that the MQM would end honour killings from the country.
Earlier, Awami Muslim League chief Shaikh Rasheed and other leaders of the MQM also addressed the rally. He said that the MQM has taken the lead in supporting the army and it is fighting side by side with the army in the fight against the extremist mindset. Members of other religious and political parties also attended the rally, including representatives from the PML-N, PPP, APML and PML-F.
