Gilani calls for making arrangements to ensure early repatriation of IDPs

BANNU: Former Prime Minister and central leader of PPP Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Friday called for making arrangements to ensure early repatriation of the IDPs to their native areas. He said said PPP would extend all possible help and assistance in hours of trials and tribulations. He said the entire nation should help the internally displaced people (IDPs) of North Waziristan. He expressed these views while addressing a tribal jirga, on the occasion of distributing relief goods among the IDPs at relief camp on behalf of the PPP, and attending a briefing at Commissioner House Bannu. He said Army Jawans and affectees were rendering sacrifices for nation’s future. He said IDPs were not an issue of one party, rather it was a national issue. There was a need to help the IDPs to mitigate their sufferings, he added. He said “we have come here on the instruction of Party Co-Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to address grievances of the IDPs” and added they were aware of their problems in this heat. He recalled that the PPP government had ensured facilities to 2.5 million IDPs of Swat and Malakand and repatriated them to their native areas in ninety days. Brigade Commander Mukhtiar and Commissioner Bannu Syed Mohsin Shah briefed the PPP delegation about the arrangements made for the IDPs in the relief camps, registration process and distribution of cash compensation and ration. Opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khurshid, former federal minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira and other PPP leaders were present on this occasion. Syed Khurshid Shah said the PPP would provide funds for the installation of water pumps in the areas of IDPs, adding out of order water pumps would be repaired.
