PPP submits adjournment motion on IDPs

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) submitted a motion under Article 259 in the National Assembly Secretariat to discuss the state of internally displaced people (IDPs). The notion was submitted by Dr Fehmida Mirza, Imran Zafar Leghari, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Abdul Sattar Bachani and Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani. The party also submitted a notice calling attention to the rise in human trafficking in Pakistan that was submitted by Shazia Atta Marri, Dr Nafisa Shah, Abdul Sattar Bachani, Beelam Hasnain and Mohammad Ayaz Soomro. “We would like to bring to the attention of this House the alarming rise in incidents of human trafficking towards the Gulf countries, the victims which comprise of a large number of women and children,” it read. The PPP also submitted an adjournment motion regarding the violation of the Debt Limitation Act by the government. The motion was by Syed Naveed Qamar, Ms Shazia Atta Marri, Dr Nafisa Shah, Makhdoom Syed Mustafa Mehmood and Dr Azra Fazal Peecho. It stated that according to the recent State Bank report, Pakistan’s total public debt has crossed 60 percent of GDP, a limit that was set by the Fiscal Responsibility and Debt Limitation Act (2005) for fiscal year 2013 onward. “This reckless borrowing of the government is a matter of grave concern that needed to be discussed exclusively on the floor of the House,” stated the motion.
