Minister calls ‘war against terrorism’ bigger than wars of 1965, 1971
*Baloch points out targeted operations ‘anywhere’ in Pakistan *Govt appeals nation to establish relief collection points
ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch on Tuesday said that it was not difficult to eliminate the hideouts of terrorists but the real challenge would be the successful rehabilitation of the internally displaced persons.
Addressing a press conference, he said that very respectable people were displaced, adding that the entire nation would have to stand by the displaced families in this hour of trial. The minister said that the government was fully determined to extend all support to rehabilitate the displaced families.
He also appealed the whole nation to establish relief collection points across Pakistan for the displaced families. He said that there is need of pedestal fans, water cooler, medicines, cloths, shoes, mobile hospitals and shelter schools. He declared the ongoing war bigger than 1965 and 71, adding that terrorism has badly damaged national economy too.
Baloch said that more relief distribution points would be established in Bannu. "We know about the numbers of displaced families residing in various areas,” he said. The minister stressed on the mobilization of people for relief collections, adding that he visited Lahore and Karachi for mobilizing the people regarding the displaced families.
He also appealed the media to mobilize the nation about the displaced families. Being a nation, it is “our collective responsibility” to assist the displaced people who had sacrificed for the peace, he said. Baloch said there could be targeted operations anywhere in Pakistan to chase the terrorists in order to wipe them out from the country.
