LONDON – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has alleged that his workers are being treated like war prisoners in Karachi.

He said while speaking to Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah by phone from London. Altaf also deplored the PPP leadership for ignoring his phone calls in Dubai, where former president Asif Ali Zardari was reportedly residing. “Nobody attended by phone calls in Dubai. I made several calls on two telephone numbers,” he said.

“The behavior of Qaim Ali Shah and Asif Ali Zardari is regrettable,” he said, adding that the Sindh chief minister was unable to understand his issue due to his old age. Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on his part said that he was saddened by the statement of MQM chief Altaf Hussain regarding their telephonic conversation.

“Altaf Hussain was agitated and ended his call in the middle of conversation,” said Qaim, in a statement. “I left a meeting to attend the phone call of Altaf Hussain, but he was very hyper,” he said. His clarification came shortly after Altaf Hussain deplored the PPP leadership for its “indifferent attitude”.
