INP

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that his party desires devolution of power to masses at grass root level and shifting concentration of decision-making power from central to local level.

He said this while chairing a meeting of the organisers of South Punjab/Sahiwal division. A number of important matters pertaining to the upcoming Local Government (LG) elections were discussed and a political strategy was agreed upon. The organisers for South Punjab/Sahiwal division were briefed in respect of Chairman Imran Khan’s instructions to undertake a merit-based performance review of the interim party set up which includes conducting meetings and political activities on a regular basis and sending reports to the chairman’s secretariat. The appointment of all the organisers would be based on performance.

Qureshi said it has been decided that the parliamentary boards for the award of local government tickets shall be formed at the tehsil level. Furthermore, the provincial constituencies would be unit-based in respect of the local parliamentary boards, he added.
