Khyber operation completed: DG ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Director General (DG) ISPR Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa in an interview with BBC said the operation in Khyber Agency had been completed. He added that first phase of the operation in Shawal had almost reached its completion.

The DG ISPR said Operaiton Zarb-e-Azb was proceeding successfully and the Pakistan Army wanted to complete it as soon as possible but no timeframe could be set.

According to Major General Bajwa resistance was being faced from militants in the first phase of the Shawal operation. He added that militants had moved to Shawal after North Waziristan had been cleared.

Major General Bajwa told BBC that further resistance could be faced in Shawal but the Pakistan Army was determined to clear the area of militants.
In reply to a question, the DG ISPR said Afghanistan did not stop militants despite being aware that they had fled from North Waziristan.
Speaking on clashes between soldiers and IDPs in Bannu, Major General Bajwa said a committee formed had completed its probe and the matter would now be taken towards its resolution.
