NAB to file supplementary reference in multi-billion Modaraba scam
Bureau authorises three investigations, six inquiries in corruption cases

ISLAMABAD – The Executive Board of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) – held under the chairmanship of Qamar Zaman Chaudhry at the NAB Headquarters – on Wednesday decided to file a supplementary reference against Mufti Muhammad Ehsanul Haq and 36 others in multi-billion Modaraba scam.

Mufti Ehsan – the accused and CEO of M/s Fayazi Gujranwala Industries Pvt Ltd – and others are involved in illegal business of Modaraba and Musharika and have received heavy investments and cheated public at large to the tune of eight billion rupees on this pretext. The board also decided to authorise three investigations.

First investigation was authorised against former Pakhtunkhwa minister Syed Murid Kazim and others. Second investigation was authorised against officers and officials of the Revue Department and others. Third investigation was authorised against officers/officials of the Pakistan Tobacco Board.

Inquiry against ex-ETPB chairman

The board also decided to authorise inquiry against former Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) chairman Syed Asif Hashmi, former vice chairman Ch Riaz Ahmed and others. The NAB chairman said that the bureau was committed to eradicate corruption and corrupt practices by adopting zero tolerance policy through holistic and proactive approach.

He directed all ranks to work with honesty, dedication and conduct all complaint verification, inquiries and investigations against corrupts in accordance with laid down laws, transparently and on merit.
