Nisar orders removal of Kasuri family names from ECL
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday ordered the authorities concerned to immediately remove names of family members of prominent lawyer and politician Ahmed Raza Kasuri from the exit control list (ECL), said a spokesman of the Interior Ministry. In a press brief, the spokesman said that taking strong note of off-loading Kasuri’s daughter and grandchildren from a Bangkok-bound plane the interior minister has ordered an inquiry that why the ECL laws were being misused despite clear directives that these could not be applied in the matters relating to family disputes. The interior minister has ordered to return the passports of members of Kasuri family and removal of their names from the ECL immediately, he said. He added that Chaudhry Nisar had also asked the ministry officials to apologise to Ahmed Raza Kasuri and ordered to suspend the officer who had placed the names of the Kasuri family on ECL. Meanwhile, a spokesman of the ministry stated that no one would be allowed to use the ECL laws for personal, political and financial disputes. He also clarified that model Ayyan Ali’s name had not been placed on the ECL as under the new procedure any name could only be included in the list after recommendation by a court of law or the concerned investigating department.
