Judicial commission report likely to be presented in NA today

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government is expected to present in Parliament on Monday the judicial commission report which rejected claims by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) that the 2013 general elections were rigged.

The three-judge commission released its final report last week, saying the polls were largely fair and in accordance with the law.

Prior to the National Assembly session, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting to discuss the country's political situation and the agenda for the session.

Sources said the government's strategy following the judicial commission's inquiry report was also discussed during the meeting.

Meanwhile, sources told Geo News that the PTI has also formulated a strategy for today's assembly session during a meeting of its parliamentary party chaired by senior leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

As per the PTI chairman's directives only Qureshi will speak during the NA session, sources said.

A spokesman for the PTI said that Qureshi will represent the party's stance in the National Assembly and that he would respond befittingly in case of any criticism.

Sources added that the party has decided to stage a walk out in protest in case of any talk of "strangers in the house" from the treasury benches.
