Electoral reforms should be expedited: PM Nawaz
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Monday there was an opportunity to strengthen the political and democratic system of the country following the judicial commission’s report on election rigging.
The prime minister chaired a meeting prior to the start of the parliamentary sessions and emphasised the need to expedite the electoral reforms process.
The meeting discussed the country’s political situation and the agenda for the Parliament session. The government’s strategy following the judicial commission’s inquiry report was also discussed.
The three-member commission released its final report, rejecting claims by the Imran Khan-led PTI that the 2013 general elections were rigged and saying the polls were largely fair and in accordance with the law.
