Shawwal moon sighted, nation celebrates Eid tomorrow

LAHORE: Chairman Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman has announced the sighting of moon for the month of Shawwal, saying that Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday.

The announcement was made by the committee chairman after presiding over a meeting of the body tasked with moon sighting in Lahore.

Mufti Munibur Rehman made the announcement after receiving ‘authentic’ evidence of moon sighting from different parts of the country.

Evidences of moon sighting were received from Lahore, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Gujranwala, Zhob and others.

“It has been unanimously decided that moon has been sighted, and Eid will fall on Wednesday,” said Mufti Munibur Rehman.

Earlier, Director General of Metrological Department had predicted the sighting of moon today that could be seen 45 minutes after sunset.

According to Meteorological Office there is a chance for the sighting of new moon of Shawwal 1437 AH on the evening of July 5 on 29th of Ramzan 1437 AH.

The new moon of Shawwal 1437 AH has born on crossing conjunction point at 16-01 PST on July 04 officials Met office said.

The moon for the month of Shawwal signifies the end of the holy month of Ramazan, marking the start of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Eid day is a celebration of the end of Ramazan, when Muslims can eat and drink during the normal times and not fast from dawn till sunset.

Muslims celebrate Eid with religious zeal and zest every year.
