Shah asks Pakistan to rejuvenate Kashmir Committee

Kashmiri leader requests world to save innocent people from Indian oppression

SRINAGAR: Democratic Freedom Party’s incarcerated Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah has appealed the justice-loving nations, organisations and leaders to come to rescue the people of the disputed state of Jammu Kashmir who are being butchered by the Indian armed forces.

He said in a statement that Kashmiris have been subjected to the worst kind of oppression and if the justice-loving nations, organisations and leaders won’t take notice of the present situation, then India through its armed forces would eliminate an entire generation through killings.

The Kashmiri leader said that Pakistan, as a stakeholder of the Jammu Kashmir issue, was bound to take steps to prevent the atrocities in the disputed state. “Pakistan must enhance its efforts to highlight the Kashmir issue. The Kashmir Committee must be rejuvenated and representatives from Jammu Kashmir must be included in it,” he said.

Shah urged Pakistan to highlight the present grave situation of Kashmir through its embassies across the world with a message that Kashmiris were suffering at the hands of India and that the Kashmir issue needs an immediate resolution. “I call on the people of Pakistan, the country’s opposition, religious, social and student organisations to raise their voice in favour of their oppressed Kashmiri brethren,” he said.

–India’s oppressive measures –

Mohammad Yasin Malik, another incarcerated Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman said that if the world fails to show sympathy towards the mourning Kashmiris, whose 40 people have fallen to bullets, then it should refrain from adding insult to Kashmiri wounds.”

Condemning arrests, curfews, restrictions, barricades and other Indian oppressive measures, aimed to stop the joint resistance march towards the martyrs’ graveyard, he said that the rulers have shown their class, anti-democratic and anti-people face.

He said that on one hand, the rulers are busy killing and injuring innocent Kashmiris and on the other hand are introducing oppressive measures to suppress the peoples’ voice. Condemning the arrest of Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the jailed JKLF chairman said that these arrests cannot deter them from pursuing the path of freedom and protesting the oppressive behaviour of India.
