RAWALPINDI: Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah announced on Thursday to install CCTV cameras in courts all over the Punjab province to effectively monitor the running of the judicial system.

Addressing lawyers at the High Court Bar here in Rawalpindi, he said that after complete investigation, strict action would be taken against those judges who had questionable reputation. He said that the district judiciary, being the front line courts, was the backbone of the justice delivery system.

He said that he had a vision to strengthen the district judiciary system enabling the litigants to reap the fruits of justice. He said that the judges should adopt polite behaviour towards complainants since the cherished goal of bringing improvements to the judicial system could only be achieved in this way.

Giving approval for one doctor for the High Court Bar’s dispensary, he said that he would visit Rawalpindi again. He said that the inspection system has been established in courts all over Punjab. He added that the supervisory committees had started working and after September, the inspection system would be imposed all over the Punjab.

He said that 1800 judicial officers were working for 100 million people and the ratio of the cases per judge was very high which was not in accordance to the international standards. He applauded the judges who were working despite limited resources.
