Amjad Sabri was murdered by hired assassins: Police

KARACHI: Hired guns were used to assassinate prominent Pakistani qawwal Amjad Sabri in Liaquatabad last month, according to police.

An important breakthrough seems to have been made in the Amjad Sabri murder case as police revealed that they had arrested one suspect who had committed the murder from Gulshan-e-Iqbal's block 13-D area. Police further disclosed that mercenaries were hired to slay Sabri, who was gunned down on June 22 in Karachi's Liaquatabad area.

Police teams have been dispatched to interior Sindh to arrest other suspects involved in Sabri's assassination.

Sabri's murder became a high profile case after Governor Sindh, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and other members of the civilian and military leadership promised to bring his killers to book.
