Asif Zardari condemns Qandeel Baloch's murder

DUBAI: PPP co-chairperson and former President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari denounced the murder of Qandeel Baloch on Sunday and urged the PM to take action against honour killing.

In a series of statements, Asif Zardari condemned the murder of Baloch and said that legislation was needed against honour killing as soon as possible.

He also said that the Senate had also passed a joint bill against honour killing last year.

Qandeel Baloch, a former model and social media personality, was strangled to death by her brother in Multan on Saturday.

She was laid to rest on Sunday at Dera Ghazi Khan. Qandeel's brother had confessed to killing her in the name of 'honour'.

Earlier, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had also tweeted against the murder when he wrote:-

"Qandeel Baloch was a Pakistani woman and deserved the right to life. No ifs, no buts. Punjab government must hold murderer accountable," he tweeted on Saturday.

Bilawal's sister Bakhtawar Bhutto also tweeted against the murder and called on the government to hand a strict punishment to her murderer.
