PM Nawaz congratulates cricket team on historic Lord's win

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif congratulated Pakistan cricket team upon winning the first test match at Lord's after beating England by 75 runs.

PM Nawaz said that he was happy to see the team defeat England successfully and display exemplary fitness. The Prime Minister also congratulated the nation on the victory and expressed the hope that the cricket team would continue to perform well in the future.

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif had also telephoned Pakistani test cricket captain Misbah-ul-Haq and congratulated him on winning the match against England.

It was an emphatic win for Pakistan, considering the fact that they had returned to the same venue after six years when the nation's cricket had been brought into disrepute by the actions of Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Amir and Salman Butt.

Yasir Shah took ten wickets in the test match to thwart England's attempt to chase Pakistan's target while Misbah scored a century during Pakistan's first innings to set up the victory.
