Delay in extension of Rangers' powers not surprising: Chandio

HYDERABAD: Sindh Information Minister Maula Bakhsh Chandio said on Wednesday that a delay in granting extension to Rangers' powers was not surprising.

According to details, Chandio was speaking to media personnel at an event in Hyderabad. He said that the go-ahead for the Karachi operation was given by the Prime Minister and all political parties. Chandio said that circumstances were different in Sindh as compared to Karachi and that on the basis of the Larkana incident, a whole operation cannot be launched in Sindh.

Maula Bakhsh Chandio said that a delay in extension of Rangers' powers had also been caused in the past as well. However, Rangers had conducted their activities in Karachi and those activities had not been illegal, he said.

Chandio stated that the government was not against extension in Rangers' powers. He said that doubts should not be created in this regard since a delay of two, three days was not surprising.
