Ayyan Ali challenges her arrest warrants in Supreme Court

By: Online

ISLAMABAD: Model Ayyan Ali has challenged in the Supreme Court her arrest warrants issued by magistrate in the Customs inspector murder case.

Ayyan said in her application that bureaucratic tactics were being used against her and the apex court restrained the federation and the Punjab government from harassing her through different tactics.

Latif Khosa, counsel for Ayyan, filed the petition taking the plea that a case related to the case was already pending in the Supreme Court and the arrest warrants were unwarranted unless the matter is disposed of. He said that an FIR was lodged against Sharif brothers in the Model Town incident but no warrants were issued for them. Ayyan was in jail when Customs Inspector Ejaz Chaudhry was killed and the name of Ayyan was not mentioned in the FIR, Khosa claimed.

He prayed the court to annul the arrest warrants issued for his client and restrain the federation and the Punjab government from harassing Ayyan.

The interior secretary, the Waris Khan Police Station House Officer and a Rawalpindi magistrate have been made respondents in the petition.
