Rabbani urges Asian countries to settle differences

Ayaz stresses greater cooperation, removal of trade, investment barriers among nations

ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani has urged the Asian countries to settle their differences and disputes for peace and stability in the continent.

He was addressing the inaugural session of the meeting of Asian Parliamentary Assembly's Committee on Economic and Sustainable Development, which began in Islamabad on Tuesday. He pointed out that Asia is faced with multiple challenges and it was time that all countries of the continent forged unity and came together to steer their peoples out of poverty and backwardness.

He said that efforts should be geared up to achieve the greater goal of rising Asia. He said that the lingering disputes of Jammu Kashmir and Palestine need to be resolved.

Meanwhile, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in his speech emphasised the need for greater cooperation amongst the Asian countries to meet the multifaceted challenges including terrorism and security. He called upon the Asian countries to remove investment and trade barriers for an equitable economic order in the continent.

He said that there was need to encourage regional integration and connectivity to achieve the objectives of shared prosperity.
