Dr Asim dubs Nawaz Sharif as ‘anti-Pakistan’
KARACHI: Former petroleum minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Karachi’s President Dr Asim Hussain termed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as ‘anti-Pakistan’, alleging that Nawaz and coterie was conspiring against Pakistan on Saturday.
Talking to media after attending hearing of NAB reference against him, Dr Asim said that Nawaz Sharif and co did not want Pakistan progress and prosper.
To a question as to who was conspiring against the government, Dr Asim said that no one was hatching conspiracies against Sharif’s family, saying they were themselves con conspiring.
He said that the JIT would not give it report against the prime minister. He said that as the prime minister were conducing official foreign visits and chairing important meetings and in such a situation how could be the JIT’s report against Nawaz Sharif.’
When asked as to who was conspiring against him, Dr Asim said that Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and his coterie were conspiring against him.
He added that NAB had constituted fake, fabricated and politically-motivated cases against him. The PPP leader said that there were 10 thousands cases related to land but his case was picked to target him.
He added that the top anti-graft body had changed prosecutor in his case for fifth times. He claimed that NAB had no evidence against him in the case.
Regarding Nawaz Sharif, Dr Asim said that if Nawaz Sharif was cleared by the JIT all his wealth would be whitened. Earlier, the Anti-corruption Court heard Rs17 billion corruption reference against Dr Asim.
Counsel of former CEO SSGC Azhar Siddique requested the court to grant him time for advancing argument in the case. The judges remarked that ample time had already been given and no more time will be given in future.
He directed the accused counsels to complete arguments on all application.
