Petitions filed in SC against Hashmi, Malik

ISLAMABAD: Separate petitions have been filed in Supreme Court of Pakistan seeking contempt of court proceedings against senior politician of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Rehman Malik.

It was said in the petition filed by the Petitioner Syed Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi against Javed Hashmi on Friday that Javed Hashmi committed contempt of court by saying that no judge, general, politician, is “Sadiq and Ameen” and therefore, life-time ban should be imposed on participation of Javed Hashmi in the elections.

It was requested to the court that sentence should be awarded to Javed Hashmi under article 204 of the constitution on disparaging article 63 of the constitution in a press conference.

It was said in the contempt of court petition against Rehman Malik that he spoke against the JIT which was constituted by Supreme Court and upon this contempt of court proceeding should be initiated against Rehman Malik.

It was further said that in the petition that the apex court said in its one judgment regarding Rehman Malik that he is not “Sadiq and Ameen” and therefore, he cannot take part in the elections of Senate but, he took part in the senate election though secret dealings with the election commission which is itself a contempt of court and therefore, the court should declare him disqualified under article 62, 63 of the constitution.
