PTI’s Naz Baloch joins PPP

KARACHI: In what seems to be a major development in Karachi’s politics and victory for the Pakistan People’s Party, Naz Baloch, a prominent member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf jumped the ship and joined the PPP on Sunday.

Flanked by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Asif Zardari’s sister Faryal Tallpur, Baloch blamed Imran Khan and PTI leadership for being Punjab centric and ignoring Karachi.

She added that the PTI chief has not been allowed to meet with the workers for which she held PTI’s local leadership responsible. Once a candidate for national assembly, Baloch said the PTI was no more a party we pined hopes on, that slogan of ‘change’ has gone.

PTI responds:

Commenting on the move, senior party leader Shafqat Mehmood attempted to portray the move insignificant for the PTI and said Naz Baloch was a local level leader. ‘She didn’t even had any post in the party.’

PPP’s PS-114 victory turning point

Contrary to what PTI termed insignificant, journalist Zia Ur Rehman said Naz Baloch was an active leader of the PTI in Karachi and has served on important party positions.
‘Apparently PTI’s defeat in the PS-114 by-poll has disheartened her and she chose to join the PPP where her father Abdullah Baloch is a key leader. Because of Naz's active role in PTI and her father's loyalty, the PPP will accommodate her in the party.’

‘Bilawal is hope’

Taking a jibe at PTI, Baloch said Bilawal is the real hope for the youth and not Imran Khan. The party which called for a ‘Naya Pakistan’ has itself changed.

NA-240 candidate

Naz Baloch contested for the national assembly seat NA-240 in General Elections 2013 and bagged 21096 votes but lost to MQM's Sohail Mansoor Khawaja. She got second highest no of votes in the constituency.
