Shujaat, Elahi woo Muslim Leaguers to ‘real party’

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and former prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and senior central leader and former deputy prime minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi have said that all the Muslim Leaguers should come back to their real party, Pakistan Muslim League.

They said, “We are standing with the national institutions, opposition is unanimous over resignation of Nawaz Sharif.” “For bringing all the Muslim Leaguers together, Ch Shujaat Hussain will visit every province," said Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

Ch Shujaat and Ch Pervaiz Elahi expressed these views while addressing a crowded press conference after high level meeting at their residence today (Sunday). Ch Shujat Hussain said that a positive verdict of Panama case was expected and the meeting had fully authorized him to take any decision on behalf of the party in the prevailing political situation. He said, “As Muslim Leaguer it is our duty that we should play our positive role and in this regard I will tour all provinces and try to bring all the Muslim Leaguers together at one platform.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that right from the start of Panama case, his party’s stance had remained the same, in the TOR Committee also PML-Q representatives Tariq Bashir Cheema and Kamil Ali Agha were present, but N-League did not play positive role. On the Supreme Court verdict firstly N-Leaguer rulers were distributing sweets then someone said the verdict was in English and should be read first. When they understood the verdict, some of their advisers and ministers had started talking against JIT and national institutions.

He said, “Nawaz Sharif has not got “democracy” registered, this is a system and N-Leaguers try to hide behind democracy. If Nawaz Sharif wants, no harm will come to the country and democracy will also function in a better way. They have ruled for 24 years and now in Punjab they have been in power continuously for last ten years but they have not done even a single work for betterment of common and poor man. If they do not resign and resultantly there is some chaos, Nawaz Sharif will be responsible for that.”

He said that there were good people also in N-League. “We invite them to return to their home and serve the country together and wherever anyone with Muslim League thinking is present, we will welcome him in the fold of the Muslim League.”

He said that for show of solidarity and representing Muslim League, Ch Shujaat Hussain would go to the Supreme Court on Monday. He said, “Along with national defence, we are standing with national institutions because damaging national institutions means harming the country and democracy.”

In reply to a question, Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that 98 percent opposition parties were unanimous on one stance that N-League had not provided any relief to the farmers, poor and workers but they had cheated them and proved them enemies of the farmers.

He said that Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif remained silent over Kulbhushan and Modi’s anti-Pakistan tirades. He said that Supreme Court verdict should be awaited and that would be better for the country and the nation.

He said, “Besides opposition parties, we also have good relations with Maulana Fazlur Rahman. Earlier, through a unanimously adopted resolution in the meeting, it was demanded that Nawaz Sharif should pay heed to the voice of the nation and after the JIT report should immediately resign. The meeting appreciated comprehensive and detailed report of JIT that after proofs and other documents in the report there remained no doubt that Nawaz Sharif and his family were involved in crimes like money laundering, forgery, misuse of powers, loot of Pakistani exchequer and they had lost justification for staying in power.

The meeting was participated by Secretary General Tariq Bashir Cheema, Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Ch Wajahat Hussain, Moonis Elahi, MNA Zain Elahi, Chief Organiser Muhammad Basharat Raja, General Secretary Punjab Ch Zaheeruddin, Riaz Asghar Chaudhry, MPAs Punjab Aamir Sultan Cheema, Vickas Hassan Moakal, Ahmad Shah Khagga and Khadeeja Umar, Hafiz Ammar Yasir, Dr Azeemuddin Zahid Lakhvi, Qamar Hayat Kathia, Imtiaz Ranjha, Ajmal Khan Wazir, Ch Mumtaz, Raja Nasir, Arif Gondal, Mahmud Hashmi, Ch Arif, Abid Jautana, Khurram Munawwar Manj, Muhammad Khan Leghari, Saleem Baryar, Bao Rizwan, Zulfiqar Ghumman, Senator Rubina Irfan, Arshad Mehr, Mrs Farrukh Khan, Ch Ishtiaq Basra, Ch Ejaz Safdar, Sardar Shah Nawaz Khan among several other leaders.
