President Mamnoon to address joint session of parliament today

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnood Hussain will address the parliament today, on the occasion of the commencement of the new parliamentary year.

The President is likely to speak about Pakistan's improving law and order situation as well as the state of the economy. He is also expected to underline the challenges being faced by the country in these current times.

This will be President Mamnoon Hussain's third address to the parliament in which he will talk about the challenges being faced by Pakistan, the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan's security forces and hail the success of operation Zarb-e-Azb.

His speech will also contain brief points as to how the government aims to tackle the country's power crisis and to improve Pakistan's economy. The joint session of the parliament will begin at 11 am. The Chief Ministers, civilian as well as military leadership, members of the federal cabinet, opposition members and government members will be present to attend the session.

Sources have disclosed that owing to the current circumstances in the country, it has been decided that the President's address in parliament will be listened by opposition members without any disturbances.

The government and opposition have been at odds with each other ever since the Panama Papers' controversy came to light. A Panamanian tax firm's papers disclosed how a couple of offshore companies could be traced back to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's children Maryam, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz.
