Maintenance of lasting peace top most priority of govt: Jhagra

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that patriotic tribal elders and Pakistan Army had rendered great sacrifices in war against terrorism for the peace of entire region adding that their sacrifices will not go in vain.

He said “we all have to realise our responsibilities and must play due role for the maintenance of lasting peace.” He was talking to a representative delegation of Bettani tribe from FR Lakki led by MNA South Waziristan Agency, Ghalib Khan Advocate who called on him here at Governor's House, here on Friday.

Speaking at the occasion, the governor said that maintenance of lasting peace was the top most priority of the incumbent government adding that every possible step would be taken to ensure all the basic possible facilities to the tribal people.

He said that our security forces and tribesmen had rendered great sacrifices in the war against terrorism. He said that tribal people had left their homes and native places for the great national cause and their sacrifices would never go in vain.

He said that repatriation of all TDPs is the top most priority of the government and assured the reforms process in FATA would be completed with the consent and wishes of tribal people. He said efforts are being made to ensure the successful and dignified return of the TDPs to their homes on priority basis.

He said the government was fully committed to take the steps for the welfare of tribesmen adding that dignified repatriation and rehabilitation of tribal people would be ensured. He said that no stone would be left unturned for the development of this marginalised region and to bring the people of FATA into mainstream. He said incumbent government was sincere to maintain peace in tribal areas and assured that certain solid steps would be taken to bring FATA into the mainstream.

On the occasion, the members of the delegation apprised the governor about the problems and difficulties which the people of the area are facing and put forward their suggestions. The governor assured them to resolve their problems on priority.
