Ruet-e-Hilal committee to meet on Monday for moon sighting

KARACHI: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee would meet on Monday for sighting the moon of Ramazan with Mufti Munibur Rehman in the chair.

The meeting would be held at the camp office of the Meteorological Department where evidence of moon sighting would be collected.

Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees would also hold meetings in different parts of the country to help the central committee reach any decision.

Met Office says the moon is likely to be seen on Monday as skies would remain clear.

On the other hand, Mufti Shahabuddin, an influential cleric at Peshawar’s historic Qasim Ali Khan Masjid, has also called meeting of his aides for moon sighting, rejecting the government request for observing Ramazan and Eid on the same day in all parts of country.

Supreme Court in Saudi Arabia has also asked people to record their evidence of moon sighting on Sunday.
