CM Sindh provides Karachi Press Club a grant of Rs 2.5 million
KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah provided the Karachi Press Club with a grant of Rs 2.5 million, on Wednesday.
According to details, the Chief Minister of Sindh visited Karachi Press Club and handed over the cheque to the administration of Karachi Press Club. He promised he would provide Karachi Press Club with another grant of Rs 2.5 million this month.
Speaking on the issue of K-Electric, Shah said that people were fed up of the performance of K-Electric.
"Representatives of K-Electric told me that the demand for electricity has gone up by forty percent," he said. "Only the poor suffer as the rich do not have to experience load-shedding," he added.
He also said that agitated protesters took out demonstrations outside CM House due to load-shedding. He demanded the load-shedding schedule be sent to the Chief Minister House. He stated that it had been decided that load-shedding would be reduced.
Speaking on the budget, Qaim Ali Shah said that he had reservations over it and that Sindh was being unfairly treated.
"Being granted only Rs 20 billion for development in Sindh is injustice," he said. "The federal government had promised to end the water crisis in Karachi but it did not do so," he added.
Shah also said the Prime Minister had provided Rs 2 billion for the K4 project while the provincial government had kept Rs 6 billion for the project for the current year.
"The worth of the K4 project has increased from Rs 25 billion to Rs 37 billion. This increase has been brought about due to delay. The federal government has failed to uphold its promise," he said.
Referring to the recent strike by MQM, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said that it was not suitable to do politics over the issue of water. He said that one must not indulge in politics over problems of the people.
"The Karachi operation will not be affected in the least," he said. "The practice of sit-ins and strikes should end. Whosoever breaks the law, should be punished," he said.
