Naveed Qamar for top PBS appointments through parliament

By: APP

ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, the lawmaker from Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Syed Naveed Qamar suggested that the appointments on top positions of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) should be made through parliament to make the bureau an independent organization.

"PBS should be made independent," he said while participating in the budget discussion at National Assembly. He said that appointments are made through the parliament would ensure that trust-worthy people are selected for performing duties at this key organisation hence enhance the credibility of the bureau. This would lead to collection of authenticated and correct data which would be beneficial for the whole nation, he added.
