Simple probe has put Sharifs into extreme mental stress: Bilawal

KARACHI: Chairman of the Pakistan People's Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that simple interrogation of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has put the ruling Sharif family into hot waters and extreme mental stress.

Addressing an Iftar-dinner reception hosted in his honour by the PPP here at the Chief Minister House on Saturday, Bilawal Bhutto said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had to quit irrespective of the decision of the Supreme Court and the JIT in the Panama Leaks scandal.

He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was using his children as shelter to save his rule, adding that father must protect his children in testing times.

“We don’t want that there should be any injustice with you or with your children as fair trial is the right of everyone but alongside this accountability should also be done,” he said. “Benazir Bhutto Shaheed, while holding finger of his son, used to meet her husband in the Central Jail Karachi in excruciating weather while she was made to wait outside the prison.”

He said that the country could no longer bear the burden of present rulers. “We would not

allow elections of ROs again as the products of rigging have to be stopped,” he asserted.

He said that the Pakistan People’s Party would vanquish the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) in the upcoming elections. “Mian Sahib, you should acknowledge that you don’t have the ability to run the country,” Bilawal said.

The PPP chairman further said that the federal budget and power loadshedding had tormented the lives of people in the country during Ramazan. He said that the federal budget was nothing but manipulation of statistics and figures.

“The country’s economy has been handed over to an accountant while there is no foreign minister in the country. The government makes tall claims regarding the economic progress but what kind of progress is this as we do imports of 100 dollars against export of just one dollar,” he said.

He said that imports had increased while exports had decreased due to defective policies of the government.

“Mian Sahib you should keep your laptops with you as young people don’t need laptops because they need jobs and patients need health treatment facilities in hospitals,” said the PPP chairman about the prime minister’s scheme to distribute laptops among students of public sector universities.

He said that everybody knew well who in the country were doing “business of iron and chicks.”

The PPP chairman said that the present federal government, the moment it had come to power, had paid off circular debt of Rs500 billion, while the issue of circular debt had resurfaced again.

He said that allegations of electricity theft were being levelled against smaller provinces. “The Takht-e-Raiwind is not deprived of electricity while there is no power supply to Sindh,” he said. “One minister says that loadshedding has been taking place as people don’t pay their bills. But people who pay their bills regularly are not being supplied electricity.”

He said that the Pakistan People’s Party had never done dirty politics unlike the present rulers. While addressing the activists of the People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto said that they should become active and functional for the next general elections in the country.

The PPP chairman said that during Ramazan he would visit the four provinces as he would continue with his public-contact campaign after Eid. He said the masses in the country were highly displeased with present government as people were protesting everywhere in the province.

“The foreign relations had been strained to an extent that ties with Iran and Afghanistan have been deteriorated,” he said. He further added that while Modi’s government was committing atrocities against the Kashmiri people and killing innocent Kashmiris but the present government had been doing nothing except issuing press releases.
