PM leaves forUmra, Aitkaf on June 18 for 10 days

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and members of his family will proceed to Saudi Arabia for performance of Umrah and prayers at Masjid-e-Nabvi on Sunday (June 18). The prime minister will travel by a commercial flight of which all expenses would be borne by the prime minister.

It has been a tradition of the Sharif family to spend the last 10 days in Hijaz-e-Muqadas and during that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and some his family's women also perform ‘Aitkaf’ for different duration. All arrangements have been made for the purpose.

Highly-placed sources told The News that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitar in Madina Munawarrah. The Saudi government has offered Prime Minister Nawaz and his family Royal hospitality during his stay in Saudi Arabia.

Interestingly it would be Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s third sojourn to the Kingdom in less than a month. First he visited to attend the summit of the Muslim-Arab-US leaders in Riyadh in last week of May and second time on Monday last to meet the King in Jeddah. It is expected that Prime Minister Nawaz will also get opportunity to meet yet another time with Khadim Harmain Sharifain in Makkah before returning home.

President Mamnoon Hussain who is already in Saudi Arabia for Ummrah will return this week as some other distinguish personalities are also planning to leave for the Kingdom to perform Ummrah during the last ten days of Ramazan.

The sources pointed out that some heads of the Muslim states and governments are also reaching Saudi Arabia for performance of Umrah and possibility of meeting between Nawaz Sharif and other Muslim leaders couldn’t be ruled out. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will visit Tajikistan in the first week of next month on an important bilateral trip, the sources added.
